"...and when I die, it will be because life was too big
to swallow, and too beautiful to spit out."
-Katja
Katja died
tragically on August 3rd while in Cincinnati, Ohio visiting her father
who was recovering from surgery.
She touched
many lives, and had a passion for art seldom seen in someone so young.
By age 24, she had seen most of the country, gained respect as a successful
painter, and experienced more than most can in a lifetime. Kate's
passionate life also included a love for poetry, music, sculpture,
and photography. She lived her whole life aspiring to be like her
mother, and lived with a fierce love and loyalty to her family and
her friends.
A fearless
woman, an old soul, an adventurous personality, and a strong heart...
we will miss her always, and she will be in our hearts forever.
upon my death arriving i leaving
we all say prayers of farewell hoping
i will journey on with all of you inside of me
my body
this body shes been good to me like my jupiter medium and
i could love and could touch
and we did feel everything like the unexplainable storms
so take this and burn it to a small box of ash in latvian wood
and the price they pay for me
put in your pocket and fly away to my home
send me to the water where i will find her
stay or leave
i will always feel each moment and movement we have had
never forget love
kate
"This
is the last will, do right by me"
And so we would have
it no other way than how she would have wanted it. Kate's ashes were
brought to the ocean in a Latvian box that belonged to her mother,
and scattered into the sea at sunset on August 13th, 2004 at Shelter
Cove in Shell Beach, California.
